CIEE offers high school students an opportunity to study abroad in the summer. Students can choose from over 50 different locations to explore the world, experience a new culture, and learn something new. The Summer Programs are 3-4 weeks depending on which program you select. Scholarships are available.
There are 3 types of Programs and several destinations to choose from:
1) Language & Culture: Programs help enhance fluency in Spanish, French, Mandarin Chinese, German, Italian, Japanese, or Arabic. Apply classroom learnings right away in the community, on excursions, or at home with your host family. 2) Service & Leadership: Focus on global issues such as the environment, children’s rights, or education. Work with a community on a project as you learn how to problem solve and help others make the world a better place. Come home with a certificate of 45 hours of service. 3) Global Discovery: Allows you to pursue or develop a personal interest in fields such as marine science, world government, filmmaking, or global entrepreneurship. Come home with a final project to showcase your experience and a certificate of completion. SCHOLARSHIPS: CIEE has scholarship available that cover up to 100% of the cost of tuition of a summer abroad program. (The cost of the flight would not be covered). Scholarships are awarded to U.S. high school students based on a combination of financial need and academic merit.
ELIGIBILITY: Applicants must be U.S. high school students (current freshmen, sophomores, and juniors). Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent U.S. residents.
