What is SEMI High-Tech U (HTU)?
SEMI High-Tech U (HTU) is a three-day career exposure program for students 15–17 years of age. HTU exposes students to the importance of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) skills through fun and interactive, hands-on activities. The event takes place at KLA-Tencor and San Jose State Univ. and is taught by industry volunteers. Students learn in an atmosphere that fosters curiosity and encourages questions.
When is the program? Nov 5-7, 2019
There is no GPA requirement, but students in the 2.0-3.0 range are encouraged to apply.

What kind of activities will I experience at HTU?
At HTU you will: • launch hacky sacks using Statapults to determine how statistics are important in quality control decisions. • light up the room with a chemistry-based experiment. • apply your feet in a unique HTU activity and become the inside of a calculator. • work in teams, solving real-world problems in third-world countries. • prepare for an interview, AND have an actual mock one-on-one interview with an industry professional.
Who should attend?
If you are a good to average student, fifteen to seventeen years old, and have an interest in high tech, you should apply. You do not have to be and “A” student, “B” and “C” students are encouraged to apply. • If you enjoy solving problems, working in teams and participating in hands-on activities, you will enjoy every minute of the program. • If you are confused about educational next steps and what you can do NOW to plan for your future, this program is designed for you.
Where will HTU Be Held?
Day One: KLA-Tencor from 8:15am to 4:30pm.
Day Two: San Jose State University from 8:15am to 4:30pm.
Day Three: KLA-Tencor beginning at 8:30am.
A graduation ceremony and reception will be held at 4:30pm. Parents, family members and friends are invited.
